In response to claims made by U.S. intelligence that four Russian missiles, launched from the Caspian Sea and aimed at targets in Syria, actually landed in Iran, Russian President Vladimir Putin appeared on Russian TV and said:
“The U.S. is claiming that four Russian missiles fell short of their targets and landed on Iranian soil, with one preposterous claim that an already dilapidated wooden fence has been damaged in the attack.
“This comes after weeks of accusations that Russian airstrikes on terrorist targets, including IS and other terrorist organisations, are not solely on IS targets. If the strikes are on IS and other terrorist organisations, then the attacks are not going to be solely on IS targets. I don’t see what the problem is.
“It’s not like Russian missiles are taking-out hospitals. What I have to say Mr Obama is this: if it looks like a hospital, it’s a hospital. Happy shooting.”
